Jim’s Guitar Blog

Ladies and Gentlemen… I give you Justin Sandercoe

Alright everybody…. I have some great news in this post.. I have found an exceptional guitar teacher on youtube

And that is Justin Sandercoe. If you wonder where in the heck I have been over the last few months. I will have to say I have been working with Justin’s free guitar video’s and they are excellent…. Where can you find them? Well go to youtube and type in Justin Sandercoe in the search… Now Justin has two channels justinsandercoe and justinsandercoesongs The justinsandercoe channel mainly covers guitar techniques such as scales, modes, etc… etc… The justinsandercoesongs channel mostly covers, you guessed it, Song Covers by popular artists

I recommend you check out each one…. He has a wide repertoire of songs that he teaches and he really breaks them down….. I got into the Jack Johnson, Pink Floyd, and the Blues stuff he has…. As a matter of fact I was so thrilled with his blues stuff that I actually bought the Solo Blues Guitar DVD 1 he has at justinguitar.com (Note* I’m in no way affiliated with Justin so I get no kick backs from recommending him or his stuff) He has three Solo Blues Guitar DVD’s in his series of Blues stuff. But hey if you don’t want to buy anything he has plenty of free stuff to keep you busy for month’s

So without further ado, I’m adding the videos to the post below of his Blues Demo… The first video is him playing the demo song so you can hear it, and the second video is Justin breaking it down so you can get a feel of his teaching style… Oh yeah, the three songs he teaches on the DVD’s he is selling are independent songs and they teach blues techniques, so as you learn them you can mix and match and create your own tunes….

Well as always keep on strumming, or finger pickin… its all good…

Yaa how how how another classic from Three Chord Guitar

Alright, I have added another Great free lesson from YouTube user ThreeChordGuitar. This is a classic from ZZ Top.

Mojo has done a wonderful job of breaking this song’s riff down. Watch him at the beginning of the riff and notice how he is looking straight ahead when he is doing the riff. This is the level of feel you want to achieve when you learn songs or riff’s. Practice it so much that you do not even have to look at the fret board to play it.

Well below is the lesson, give it a go, and see how you like it… Note* This riff sounds great on Acoustic too….
Also, I highly recommend you subscribe to ThreeChordGuitar you won’t regret it.

As always keep on Strumming…..

U2 Free Guitar Lesson from LazyFret

Found some great free Guitar lessons on YouTube from user Lazyfret.

He has a unique teaching philosophy that I like Don’t learn to play - Play to Learn, he believes in teaching easy popular songs so the beginning guitarist will learn to play something they enjoy this in turn will hold the interest for the person learning to play and over time as their skills get better learning the songs they will expand on in to music theory and scales, etc… etc…

Be sure to check out his web site KickStartGuitar

Traded the Strat for a Dobro

Well I did it… I had the Fender Strat on lay away,  but one day I was talking with Tommy at Art’s Music we were discussing some of the new instruments that they had received and one of them was a Dobro. I had always loved the way a Dobro sounded and they way it added some unique sounds and accents to a song.

However,  I always thought it would be difficult to learn how to play. Read more…

After the Holidays

Ahhh… the Holidays are over… I hope everyone had a good time and got at least some of the stuff they wanted… I actually got two things I wanted… 1) A Martin DX1, and 2) A Fender Stratocaster with a red Satin finish…

I know in an earlier post I mentioned getting a Martin D-16. But getting the DX1 allowed me to get the Fender Strat as well. I have been doing pretty well on the Acoustic and I have wanted to add the electric guitar to my playing. Read more…
